Day 03 – The best book you’ve read in the last 12 months
FINALLY on day 3! I have to admit that I procrastinated a bit on this one. I mean it’s so difficult picking the best book I’ve read in 12 months! That’s over 100 books and many of them I loved! But I finally chose one!!! YAY! Just know that this could’ve been many other books I don’t know how I came to this decision….just know that it’s a good book 😉
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Embrace the Forbidden
What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?
This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.
Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.
Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?
Why is this book so great you ask?? Well let me explain!
First, isn’t that synopsis amazing! I don’t know about you guys but that makes me want to pick up that book and read it
and then reread it! I discovered this book in Goodreads (of course) and I mean with a cover and a synopsis like that how could I not read it!
While the relationship between Anna and Kaidan is complicated and adorable the relationship I truly love is the one between Anna and her dad. After believing her dad had abandoned her she learns the truth, that her dad left her to protect her, and so their journey begins as they start to form a relationship. Honestly maybe it’s because I don’t have a relationship with my own dad that I find this so touching, but regardless of the reasons why it’s still a great part of the book. Even though her dad is a fallen angel he’s still really sweet in a bad-ass kind of way 😉
I imagine that finding out that your dad is a fallen angel and that your mom is a pure angel would be kind of shocking but Anna sort if takes it in stride, but then again she had Kaidan there to help her through it 🙂
The main problem with Anna and Kaidans relationship is the fact that Kaidans dad is the “Lord” of Lust and Kaidan must do his bidding aka sleep with every girl in sight and if he defies his dad his dad can easily kill him!
I really think that this book is suitable for both guys and girls. There’s action, drama, romance you know the usual 😉 So needless to say I’m really excited for Sweet Peril, its sequel, and I think that’s one of the reasons I love this book so much: because I’m really looking forward to what happens with the characters.
