Series Spotlight Sunday: The Wallflowers by Lisa Kleypas

I never in a million years thought that I would enjoy historical romance as much as I do today. It wasn’t until late last year when a blogger I look up to started raving about a book, Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean, that I even started taking an interest in the genre. After discovering that the next book in the series wouldn’t be out for a while I started searching for a series that was similar in nature and that’s when I discovered The Wallflowers series by Lisa Kleypas.

The literal definition of a wallflower is a person who has no one to dance with or who feels shy, awkward, or excluded at a party and this series follows the journey of four such wallflowers. After being ignored for an entire Season the girls decide to band together in an effort to find each other husbands before it is too late and they become spinsters. The men of London better prepare themselves because these ladies will stop at nothing in order to secure their futures.

What I love about this series is that the girls aren’t your typical damsels in distress and the guys aren’t Prince Charming. All of the girls have totally different personalities yet mesh well together. The guys are different as well: some are rakes/rogues, some seem villainous, some are aloof and reserved, but all of them are 100% alphas that get brought down to their knees by the women they fall in love with.

Although it’s a series each book can be read individually, however I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s fun to see the build up through each book. Additionally, if you are a fan of long series’ then you’ll be elated to know that this series and Lisa’s other historical romance series The Ravenels have a joint book coming out this Tuesday, February 19, 2019 called
Devil’s Daughter: The Ravenels meet The Wallflowers!

Full of spunk, sass, grit, determination, and heart these girls are sure to capture your heart book after book and keep you wanting for more.
